The palace was both the private residence and the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire. Upon the declaration of the Turkish Republic, the palace became Atatürk’s Presidential Palace. It has a very significant place for the Turkish nation as it was built during the Ottoman era and later became the Presidential Palace of the young Turkish Republic.
