Pre-KAM programme will be held on the 3rd of September in our wonderfully dynamic city of Istanbul. During the Pre-KAM Programme, you will have the chance to visit few of the most fascinating historical buildings in Istanbul, sitting on the most beautiful section of the Bosphorus: Dolmabahçe Palace and Grand Mecidiye Mosque, followed by Bosphorus Boat Tour. This amazing day will be concluded with a traditional Turkish night in Meyhane (Turkish Tavern) accompanied by belly dancers and live music.
Dolmabahçe Palace was commissioned by Abdülmecid I, and its construction took place between 1842 - 1853. The palace was both the private residence and the main administrative center of the Ottoman Empire. Upon the declaration of the Turkish Republic, the palace became Atatürk’s Presidential Palace. It has a very significant place for the Turkish nation as it was built during the Ottoman era and later became the Presidential Palace of the young Turkish Republic.
Grand Mecidiye Mosque
The Grand Mecidiye Mosque (known as Ortaköy Mosque) was built between 1854-1856, in Neo-Baroque style. Nikoğos Balyan, an Armenian imperial architect, was the architect of the mosque, who was also the architect of the Dolmabahçe Palace. Within the mosque, there are several examples of Islamic calligraphy executed by Sultan Abdülmecid himself. Around Ortakoy, you will have the chance to taste delectable Turkish street food and shop from the little local stores in the area.
The Bosphorus is simply one of the most beautiful places in the world, and there’s no better way to see it than by boat. This cruise gives visitors a chance to delve into the city’s history. Lined with extravagant palaces, crumbling wooden mansions, lush gardens, tiny fishing villages and an unparalleled array of spots to watch the boats go by, the Bosphorus offers something for everyone. This tour offers the perfect blend of history, nature, culture, and luxury.
